SABIC Introduces Innovative LNP™ LUBRILOY™ N2000 Compound for Quieter and Smoother Automotive Interiors
SABIC, one of the world's leading chemical manufacturers, has unveiled its groundbreaking solution for automotive interior noise reduction – the LNP™ LUBRILOY™ N2000 compound. In the quest for a quieter and more enjoyable driving experience, automotive manufacturers face the challenge of minimizing unwanted noises, often referred to as "Buzz, Squeak, and Rattle" (BSR). These noises can arise when different parts of the vehicle's interior come into contact.
Traditionally, mitigating BSR involved costly methods like adding non-woven tape-based spacers or external lubricants. SABIC's innovative LNP™ LUBRILOY™ N2000 compound offers a more efficient solution. This drop-in material, replacing standard PC/ABS, significantly reduces friction and stick-slip behavior between molded parts. It ensures smoother movements of buttons, knobs, and various interior components, enhancing the overall driving experience.
The lubricating technology in the LNP™ LUBRILOY™ N2000 compound results from a fully compatibilized olefinic alloy, free of silicone and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). This technology provides excellent wear resistance and maintains a low coefficient of friction when plastic parts move over metal and plastic surfaces.
Furthermore, SABIC's solution complies with stringent regulations. In July 2020, the European Commission limited the presence of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in materials. SABIC's LNP™ LUBRILOY™ N2000 compound allows manufacturers to achieve outstanding tribological performance without the use of PTFE, ensuring compliance with the regulations while offering optimal noise reduction.
In addition to its application in automotive interiors, the LNP™ LUBRILOY™ N2000 compound finds potential use in consumer electronics, providing reduced friction and improved wear in various components.
SABIC continues to pave the way for innovative solutions, offering a quieter, smoother, and more enjoyable driving experience for consumers worldwide.
